10 Dos & Dont's from dermatologist about cleaning our face

It is not new that we should wash our face. And yet, a 2017 survey showed that 80% of respondents make at least one common mistake when washing their face, for example, they only do it once a day. While with our face it has many positives such as naturally bringing the pollutants and enjoying the irritations. We naturally remove dead cells and radiate health and radiance. But now that we've said that, there's no need to get too excited. Experts say that washing and scrubbing our face more than we should can damage our skin. A proper facial care routine is very important for everyone especially those with sensitive skin.
Below is a list of dos and don'ts, according to a dermatologist, for glowing skin:

1.Do choose the right cleanser for your skin.
What your friend uses may not be right for you. For example, if you have dry or sensitive skin, use moisturizing non-foaming cleansers to avoid the feeling of dryness. If you have oily, acne-prone skin, foaming or salicylic acid cleansers are better for you. There are plenty of options from two-phase, emulsions or patches, whatever you choose, notice your skin. If you experience redness, irritation, peeling, itching or pulling sensation, you may be overdoing the scrubbing.

2. Don't wash your face with hot water.
Rinsing with hot water can strip moisture from the skin leaving the face dry and irritated. It is recommended to use cool or lukewarm water to wash off the cleanser especially if you have sensitive skin. It is best to use cold water. Cold water is suitable for all skin types, it enhances circulation and tones the skin.

3.Do wash your face twice a day.
Our face needs to be washed with a cleanser twice a day, once in the morning and once before bed. Cleansing before bed is a must. And we don't forget the cleaning after exercise.

4.Don't It is not a rule to use toner.
Cleansing products for the face today are much more effective compared to the past so a Toner or a lotion is not always necessary to wear the dirt or oils. It is best to use a Toner in case we feel that our skin needs it.

5.Do remove makeup thoroughly.
It is very important to remove every trace of makeup before going to bed. This will reduce the appearance of irritation. If we wear light makeup, a simple facial cleanser is enough. After an appearance with a heavy make-up we need a special oil-based cleanser. This will help remove the mascara. It would be good not to rub with our eyes but to make vertical gentle movements so as not to damage our eyelashes. Try this mild product suitable for all skin types:

6. Don't rub your face.
For a gentle but very good cleaning the tools you need are your fingertips. They are not only very gentle but also difficult to cause irritation and it is a good opportunity for some self care time giving ourselves a gentle massage.

7.Do use a face towel that is exclusively for this.
Cleansing is not just about the face. Remember to wash your hands well and don't use the family towel that has been hanging in the bathroom for days. Bacteria can be present on this towel and transferred to your clean and exposed face. Use a soft clean towel that is only for your face.

8. Don't forget your moisturizer.
After you clean your face well, you need to use the moisturizer to lock in the moisture.

9.Do double cleaning.
You can try to clean your face, rinse it and then do it again, if your skin needs it, but in general the cleaning of the face should not exceed 2 minutes. Too much scrubbing, rinsing and cleaning can affect the absorbency of the skin and leave your face dull and dry. 30 to 120 seconds is the ideal time for cleaning.

10.Don't exfoliate every day.
Exfoliation is the key to a healthy and clean face. But excessive use can make the skin sensitive and cause the opposite unwanted effect such as wrinkles and Exfoliation is the key to a healthy and clean face.
